The Kindred Kitchens Design & Remodeling Process

The Kindred Kitchens Design & Remodeling Process

Every design, remodeling or construction project that Kindred Kitchens has done over the years has taught us that regardless of the client or project, if we both adhere to this process, we will save time, money and stress.

1) Research

Compiling a wish list is an important first step. Gather inspirational photos of kitchens you like from magazines or websites.

It could be colors, specific tiles, an island shape, cabinet style, or any details you may like.

Equally important is establishing an investment range. As you search for balance between wants and needs, keep in mind that this kitchen (bath or other space) remodel is an investment, it should meet your needs for many years, and it will add value to your home. Kitchens are like most anything else that you purchase: the costs are entirely dependent on the price of the materials chosen and the complexity of the job. An industry rule of thumb is to consider 10-20% of the home’s market value when estimating a kitchen remodel.

Our professional expertise will help you prevent costly mistakes and get you the most value for your money.

2) Make an appointment

Once your list is complete, call us for a free consultation. We will come right to your home and show you a portfolio of projects we’ve completed, discuss your thoughts, measure your space and sketch your current floor plan. We understand you don’t do this every day and we’re here to help. We will be learning more about you, how you live, cook and entertain. We want to learn what inspires you.

3) Initial Design Concepts & Budget

Based on our

prior discussions, we will sketch and present preliminary design solutions along with a corresponding budget range that will incorporate your project objectives. We will go thru the design cabinet by cabinet discussing its importance and value. Hopefully, we hit the mark and you are ready to start the detailed design process.

4) Refining the design and estimate

As we make a commitment to work together, we ask for a modest design retainer. This small commitment allows us to

bring our sub-contractors in to estimate every phase of your project . We will work with you to modify the floor plan and elevations to perfection and spec out products down to the last detail; including tile pattern, faucet finish, and much more. Kindred Kitchens will be able to steer you towards products and design solutions that will help you stay within budget.

5) Signing the contract

Once the design is perfected and you’re ready for your new kitchen to take shape, you need to sign the contract, which will include a final estimate and a payment schedule. The design fee you paid earlier will be credited toward the cost of your

project.
